Assistant Merchandiser
Role Overview:
We're looking for an Assistant Merchandiser for Liberty Brand, where you’ll play a key role in driving commercial performance through effective planning, forecasting and trading. Working closely with the Senior Merchandiser, Buying and Category Management teams, you’ll use data and insight to identify opportunities, manage stock and maximise sales and margin. You’ll also support the day-to-day running of the department, helping ensure the right products are available at the right time and delivering an exceptional Liberty customer experience.
We’re looking for a numerically minded, analytical and detail-oriented individual with previous merchandising experience in a fast-paced luxury retail environment. You’ll be a confident communicator, comfortable working with data and systems, and passionate about understanding the Liberty customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Senior Merchandiser with sales, stock, intake and margin planning, helping to build accurate forecasts and manage Open to Buy (OTB) in line with Liberty’s commercial goals.
Maintain accurate WSSI forecasts, monitor trading performance and highlight risks and opportunities, making recommendations to support informed decision-making.
Manage markdowns and promotions across Liberty’s own-brand range, helping to maximise sales, maintain availability and minimise end-of-season stock.
Oversee price changes, ensuring products are competitively priced and intake margins remain aligned with budget.
Work collaboratively with Stock Optimisation, Operations and Logistics teams to coordinate stock movements, returns, transfers and intake forecasts.
Partner with Liberty’s Brand Category Management and Buying teams to support effective range planning, including option plans and minimum buy quantities.
Take part in weekly floor walks and trade meetings, using your commercial awareness to spot opportunities, understand customer behaviour and agree actions that drive sales.
Use data, reporting tools and systems to monitor performance, share insights and support the development and testing of new tools and processes.
Support the development of the Merchandise Administrator, helping to manage day-to-day priorities, share knowledge and ensure the team works effectively.
About You:
Previous merchandising experience within a fast-paced luxury retail environment, with a good understanding of own-brand or private-label trading.
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Confidence using merchandising systems, data and reporting tools to inform decisions.
A genuine appreciation of the Liberty brand and its customer, with the ability to bring this understanding into commercial decision-making.
Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to share insights and flag risks and opportunities.
A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and take action to support sales, stock and margin targets.
Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and work collaboratively with a wider team
Experience supporting, coaching or developing a junior team member is desirable
Familiarity with range planning, option plans and buy depth processes is desirable.
